Twin flames by technical definition is really just about a strong connection you may feel to another human being. Unlike, "soulmates" this might feel more intense. And in my opinion, has helped support romantic delusion called "limerence".

WTF is limerence ?
Limerence is s a state of infatuation or obsession with another person that involves an all-consuming passion and intrusive
thoughts. Most people with limerence have come from a childhood of emotional or physical neglect. So as you grow older, subconsciously you believe "love" is about more of the fantasy of someone or a relationship rather than what reality is showing you. If you went through some sort of trauma as a child, your brain might have responded to trauma in a way where you ignored by day dreaming and escaping. As you get older, this makes dating difficult which is why you might have such high hopes very soon with a love interest. In extreme cases, this can be putting someone on a romantic pedestal who has not shown you genuine interest back. A person with childhood trauma and limerence may feel like romantic love is the answer to all life problems. And once they have it, they will be healed and happy. Because they are constantly on the search for the love that they never saw home
How does this relate to twin flames ?
Ask a tarot reader, the questions I get in love readings are commonly about twin flames. I feel bad constantly getting more of a "no" from the cards to clients. Here is what I want to clear up. You can meet a great partner and have a happy healthy relationship with someone who isn't technically a twin flame. Not every amazing connection means that, that person was half of your soul once. Signs of an unhealthy love interest or relationship
- You put in more effort than your love interest or partner
- Their actions never match their words
- The person has clearly stated they do not want a relationship with you. Might even ignore you or go ghost
- It's based off more of a sexual relationship than a real one
- The person you're into makes you feel shitty and unheard
- One minute, things are amazing, next minute, it's terrible. Almost like they give you attention and love and then take it all back in an instant. Even worse if they don't take accountability
- Of course cheating
- This is the biggest one of all ! If you both aren't even in an official exclusive relationship. So meaning- no dates or getting to know each other. You aren't included in their life in any type of way. They haven't let you in their world any type of way
- A long distance relationship built more off promises than actual goals of being physically together one day
This might seem like very obvious red flags but I have had so many women in these situations asking if a person that fits these terrible traits, is their "twin flame".
